We are not a franchise, or a faceless chain, we are a co-operative of independent retailers.
Here At Liquor Barons, The People Who Work In The Stores, Own The Stores. We are proud to be exclusively West Australian, and work hard to provide interesting and varied selections of booze to all of our locals around this great state.
To show you who we are, we've spent time going around and talking to our store owners and asking them about themselves, so that we can introduce them, to you. You probably already know the people who run your local, but do you know the others?
Bernard is the owner of Liquor Barons Claremont, one of the original stores in the group. In 1985, Bernard and his family moved to the suburb of Claremont, where his kids would grow up. 8 years after the move, he bought the liquor store. 25 years on, it’s 2018, and Bernard has been an active supporter of the Claremont community for over 3 decades. Aside from sponsoring local schools and the Claremont Footy Club, he makes it his business to know his local customers and provide them with the highest level of customer service, and a friendly face.
We asked Bernard what he’d offer us if we asked for a good Margaret River Cabernet: “Cape Mentelle, no question. We’ve been selling Cape Mentelle for as long as we’ve been open – we haven’t missed a vintage. The consecutive 1983 and 1984 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy wins (for the 82 and 83 vintages) cemented Margaret River as a premium cabernet region and the wines are just as good today, if not better. If you can afford to invest in the estate cabernet, it will stay alive in the cellar for decades. If you want something to drink sooner than that, the Wallcliffe cabernet blend offers fantastic value for money at $49, if this is still not up your alley – the Trinders is great. Every. Single. Vintage.”
You can’t fault his taste in sports either – Bernard is partial to a spot of golf and a robust game of rugby. Noble pursuits.
