The Hunter Hay range of wines are premium wines sourced from around Australia: Margaret River, Coonawarra and the Barossa Valley. Their selection is based on the highest quality wine we can find for the project and represents very good value for money.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra
“This is epic value for money. Coonawarra Cabs can sometimes lack delicacy, approachability and plushness, however this has concentrated and rich black fruit, dusty tannins and enough Coonawarra 'choc/mint' characters to tick the box. It’s not overly complex or nuanced, but it’s hugely satisfying, and it looks good too. Name 'Hunter & Hay' comes from the lunar cycle, October being the Hunter Moon, and July being the Buck, or Hay Moon”
Shiraz, Barossa Valley
“More elegant than expected from the Barossa. From a selection of vineyards across the Barossa Zone, this has blueberries, blood plum and blackberries on the nose, fresh cracked black pepper, hints of spice and suggestions of liquorice and star anise. The palate is medium weight erring on the side of elegant, with firm tannins that have a ripe suppleness about them. This wine spends 18 months in French oak barriques.”
