Swings & Roundabouts is based in the northern end of Margaret River wine region. The cellar door is situated on our vineyard located on Caves Road, Yallingup. Sourcing premium fruit from our own vineyard and contract grower’s vineyards, we produce pure Margaret River styles and Western Australian blends.
We grow great fruit and make great wine, but it isn’t an exact science. There are judgements in the vineyard and art in the winery that ultimately determine the character of what we drink. Our name celebrates the creative and skilled balancing act performed by nature and our winemakers to develop the individuality and quality of what is in the bottle.
Unique soils, warm summers with cooling afternoon sea breezes and wet and cold winters. Margaret River’s micro climate is now well recognised as having great advantage for super premium wine crafting. The moderating effects of the temperate maritime climate combined with warm summers, cooling afternoon sea breezes, unique soils and wet, cold winters provide ideal growing conditions for wine grapes that are both elegant and robust. Our strong belief is in the northern Margaret River fruit that can deliver “Mediterranean” style wines that are great for drinking... with or without food.
Swings & Roundabouts Cabernet Merlot 2015
The Colour is a beautiful deep purple red; the aroma displays lifted ripe plums. Expect some dark fruited Merlot coming through with a fine classical Margaret River Cabernet varietal lift which completes the impression. On the Palate it’s rich, ripe and layered with fine fruit and generous flavours with spice leading to a fine mouth-filling middle palate with fine grained tannins to finish. Oak spice completes and compliments the wine to make a classical Margaret River style. We recommend enjoying alongside some Lamb; any cut or especially aged cheddars
Swings & Roundabouts Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2017
The colour is very pale green, the nose displays fresh guava fruit, its perfectly clean with succulent Sauvignon Blanc freshness and a dry Semillon background. The palate is dry and very fine, with an explosive first impact of racy and zingy fruit, the palate is medium bodied with a fine finish and crisp acidity to boot.
Did you know....
Our name comes from the expression used to encapsulate the eternal balancing act between the various aspects of grape and wine production. What you lose on the swings, you pick up on the roundabouts.
“I am the guardian of the fruit. It’s called entropy. You can’t add something that isn’t there, the best outcome is to highlight or underscore the fundamental nature of the beast.” Brian Fletcher - Chief Winemaker
