“Alpha Box & Dice is one of the most fascinating wine producers. Based in Mclaren Vale, it was established in 2008 with an ambitious goal – to create an “Alphabet of Wine”, with each letter representing a different winemaking project. An opportunity to explore the diversity of South Australia wine.

While traditional varieties such as Shiraz and Riesling are made, the focus is very much on alternative and Mediterranean varieties, with Barbera, Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio, Gruner Veltliner and others.

Sourced from Mclaren Vale, the Adelaide Hills and other South Australian regions. In many ways, it is a serious attempt at making wines that are fun and highly drinkable.

Liquor Barons conducted a deep dive into the current suite of wines and came up with some absolute crackers. The range offers the opportunity to explore different varieties sourced from a number of South Australian wine regions. In all cases, the wines are expressive and true to variety and style.

This Piedmont variety thrives in the Adelaide Hills, coming together beautifully in an outstanding year. Earthy, dried-herb characters weave through plush red fruits, complemented by a dry, savoury sage-bush element. Smooth and seamless—a fantastic match for Italian fare.
