ABOUT

Made in Bologna in 1885 by the young rebel genius Stanislao Cobianchi, Amaro Montenegro was an instant success. Years later, when the glamorous Princess Elena of Montenegro married Prince Victor Emmanuel III, Stanislao decided to dedicate his elixir to her royal highness, the future Queen of Italy.

The recipe for Amaro Montenegro includes more than 40 botanicals, divided into three categories: Citrus, bitter-sweet, and herbaceous. They are extracted and mixed to make the elixir unique and inimitable.

Amaro Montenegro displays a rich and pleasantly balanced taste. With its low ABV and bitter-sweet flavour profile, it goes well in any cocktail or can be enjoyed simply on its own.

TASTING NOTES

Boiling, maceration and distillation performed in accordance with a traditional method gives birth to six aromatic notes. The signature note called the ‘Premio’, and the seventh and final note, is the result of the micro-distillation of five unique botanicals. It is so intense, that only a single drop in a bottle is needed to seal the secret recipe.

Colour – Amber-coloured and bright with delicate mahogany transparencies on the outer edges.
Palate – Soft and silky mouth feel with a satisfying balance between sweet and bitter notes.
Aroma – Citrus entry, coming with orange peel, leaves room for notes of lime and mandarin. Marjoram and thyme’s aroma is enriched by spiced and balsamic blends. Complex roasted notes complete an elegant finish.
Serving Suggestion – Enjoy a nip (30ml) neat after a meal. Alternatively, enjoy as a Monte & Tonic cocktail—1 part Amaro Montenegro, 3 parts tonic water.
