“Made for Mixing #MAKEITMONKEY”

ORIGIN: Speyside, Scotland
TYPE: Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Monkey Shoulder, the world’s first ‘triple malt’ whisky is crafted in small batches from three of the finest Speyside single malt whiskies (no grain whisky) and aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, resulting in a richer malt of exceptional smoothness. While purists will enjoy it best served straight-up over ice, the amazing range of flavours in Monkey Shoulder make it ideal for mixing and it shows versatility when used in classic and contemporary cocktails.

ABOUT

Rooted in malt whisky lore, Monkey Shoulder is named in honour of the malt men who used to turn the malting barley by hand. Years ago, distillery workers would shovel tonnes of malting barley hour after hour for long shifts. This hard work would sometimes cause a sore shoulder and their arm to hang down, a bit like a chimpanzee’s. The men called this temporary affliction ‘monkey shoulder’ and so we named the whisky in honour of their hard craft. Thankfully, working practices have now changed, but the name lives on in recognition of these men and how they suffered for their art. Our master blender set out to create a liquid with all the credentials of a single malt whisky with the versatility and mixability to put it front and centre of a cocktail revolution.

TASTING NOTES

Monkey Shoulder is a premium Scotch Whisky that is steeped in history and culture and to this day is still tended by hand by the experienced Malt Men of Speyside. A smooth and rich ‘triple’ malt Scotch (a world first!) that has been blended from three of Speyside’s finest single malts and using batches from only 27 casks to produce this fine malt whisky. A delightful nose of sherry, cinnamon baked pear, butterscotch, barley, strawberry and Bourbon vanilla which are all complemented by tangy, sweet nut, citrus, mint, oak and orange peel flavours.

A unique combination of three tasty Speyside Single Malts, expertly married in small batches, creating a smooth, versatile flavour like no other.
