Huey: King of the coast Subheading
There’s a new brew on the block at Gage Roads and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to Huey! Brewed naturally and made with 100% natural ingredients – no added sugar, tetra hops, additives or preservatives, Huey is a beer that revels unashamedly in its natural state. We sat down with the team at Gage Roads to find out a bit more about why you’re going to love Huey.
Tell us about the Huey brew.
It’s a mid-strength, easy drinking Coastal Lager. Huey has a focus on 100% natural ingredients, high quality processes and an overall sessionable taste. Huey is lagered longer for that little bit extra (3.8% ABV) to really round out the flavour and body for a super thirst quenching, easy to drink mid-strength lager without any compromise.
Where did the inspiration for the Huey brew come from?
To help us celebrate 20 years of Gage Roads, the brew journey for Huey was a nostalgic look back to the first beer we released, which was also a lager! The task was to bring a new brew into the Gage Roads range that would fit neatly into the family, but also provide our drinkers with a new style of brew they would love. Boy, did the brew team nail it! Huey has developed into a super thirst quenching, easy to drink mid-strength lager without any compromise on flavour.
Where should we be enjoying a nice cold bottle of Huey?
Huey is crisp, clean, easy-drinking and everything you could want for a thirst-quenching brew, and it pairs perfectly with an arvo session with your mates. The best places to enjoy Huey include; weekend sessions with your friends, after work knock-offs, a Sunday sesh in the backyard or catching the sunset down at the beach. We also recommend pairing Huey with tacos, or a classic serve of fish and chips.
What do you think West Aussie beer drinkers will love most about Huey?
Gage Roads are stoked to be offering West Aussie drinkers a new, modern lager to get around. What they’ll love most? A straight up lager from a local brand they’ve known and trusted for years. Huey is easy-drinking, universally appealing, and super sessionable.
What sets Huey apart from the other Gage Roads brews that we know and love?
Huey brings a new mid-strength option to existing (and new!) Gage Roads beer drinkers. This lighter lager is just that little bit different to our other beers, but is still packed with quality ingredients and epic flavours. Head brewer, Ross Brown says, “Huey Lager is all about patience and precision. Brewed with the best all-natural ingredients and lagered slow and cold. Our extended cold-maturation process refines every aspect of the beer. The result? A brighter, cleaner lager that’s lightly hopped and big on refreshment. Huey is crisp, smooth, and endlessly crushable.”
And lastly, why the name Huey?
Huey is the name of our Gage Roads seagull, the mascot who lives proudly above our name. Huey is also known as the God of Sea and Surfing. Many people have been known to pray to Huey for ideal coastal conditions for whatever activity they may be undertaking (surfing, fishing, boating, swimming, you name it!). If you look close enough, you’ll be able to find Huey’s crown on the new brew’s packaging, as a subtle nod to his place on the throne of WA’s coastal conditions.
