Pour de France Yellow Jersey Winner 2025 Subheading
Our Pour de France competition has wrapped for this year, and we’re thrilled to have had a chat with the lucky winner, Andrew, who’s about to be rolling in style on a brand-new bike. We asked him a few questions about his love for cycling in WA and what winning this prize means to him.
How long have you been cycling in WA and what do you love most about the cycling community here?
I started cycling just before moving to Perth in 2012. Initially I was racing in triathlons and then quite quickly discovered the group riding scene in Perth. This actually began when I was cycling with my triathlon training mates. But I stopped doing triathlons a few years ago and now ride with groups regularly (although more during the warmer seasons!). It’s awesome to have such an active cycling community here with so many options for group rides. And on those occasions when I’ve needed help, those cycling buddies always step in to assist.

Can you tell us a little bit about what this prize means to you?
My current road bike is getting quite long in the tooth and I’ve been plotting ways to get a new bike for well over a year. There’s no way I could swing it past the financial manager through our regular budget! So this prize means that I am free to get the bike I want now.
Are there any particular bikes you’ve been eyeing off that you’re thinking about purchasing with your prize?
Fortunately Wembley cycles sells two very good brands in road bike – Specialized and Cervelo. Both are awesome brands and I am looking forward to getting one of the pro spec models – either the Tarmac SL8 or the Caledonia 5. Both are excellent bikes.
Where will be the first place you take your new cycling gear?
I think I’ll be quite nervous initially so probably just a lap around Herdsman lake to make sure that I’m comfortable on the bike before pitching up and showing off at my regular Wednesday or Friday group ride.
Needless to say I’m super excited by this and I’ve spent the weekend watching review videos and even asking Chat GPT which bike I should get! But I reckon I’ll be happy with whichever choice I make.
If you want the chance to win big, like Andrew, make sure you sign up to the Barons’ Locals Club for future chances to win. Thank you to everyone who took part in Pour de France this year.
