Ray Jordan’s Top 4

Ray never misses when it comes to selecting world-class reds for all palates & budgets, and take our word for it, there are some absolute corkers in his 2022 harvest.

Winner –  Best of the Best Wine 2022

Cherubino Omaggio Shiraz Mataro 2020

“The Cherubino shiraz Mataro comes from his Cherubino’s Riversdale vineyard at Frankland River. The aim is to preserve the fruit qualities and therefore only one and two-year-old oak was used for maturation. Highly perfumed with a palate that displays excellent fruit with that regional ironstone influence.

This is confirming a sign that Frankland River as a region is heading towards superstardom that in the end might just match that of that other superstar, Margaret River.”

Best Value 2022

Oakover White Label Shiraz 2020

“There have been some exceptional wines in this value-for-money category over the years we have been conducting this tasting, but I don’t think there has been a better wine than this one. It’s part of the dual labels being made under the expert gaze of winemaker Damian Hutton. The intention for Oakover is to deliver great value and this it does beautifully. It’s brilliant bright and delicious. The depth of fruit is remarkable and not something you normally get in this price range”.

Runner Up Best Value 2022 (Tied)

Miles From Nowhere Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

An absolutely cracking Cabernet from Margaret River in this range with real polish and style. It’s medium-bodied with a rich succulent fruit base supported by a thread of tannin and oak. Under $15, you’re kidding me.

Runner Up Best Value 2022 (Tied)

Miles From Nowhere Shiraz Grenache 2020

What a wonderful example of this blend in this price range. Bright and lively from the first engagement on the nose. This is right on the money for the blend with the savoury and slightly meaty shiraz merging beautifully with the perfumed lift of grenache. Great balance of fruit and oak with the fine sinewy tannins playing a neat supporting role.
