  1. Margarita means Daisy in Spanish.
  2. It originated in the late 1930s but thanks to who? No one knows!
  3. The salt is crucial! It is there to balance and enhance the sweet and sour flavours of the cocktail.
  4. The Guinness World Record for the largest Margarita was made in Las Vegas in 2011 with 32,176 litres by a brand called Margaritaville.
  5. One of the most expensive Margaritas in the world is at The London Bar in NYC which rings up at a whopping $1200. It’s known as the NYC Billionaire Margarita. They use the tequila from a $7500 bottle of the oldest and rarest Patrón en Lalique Serie 1.
  6. It is the most popular cocktail in around 30 countries as of 2021.
  7. The first frozen Margarita was developed in 1971 by Mariano Martinez. Inspired by the Slurpee machine, he was looking for a way to keep his Margarita cold in scorching Texas heat!
