On The Vine Edition Two 2023
Liquor Barons’ Premium Wine Guide
Ray Jordan and our expert wine panel are back with edition two of On The Vine. This edition provides a premium selection of the best light reds, whites and rosé wines to enjoy this summer, whilst we transition into the warmer spring weather. When the summer temperatures begin to rise, a refreshing drop that quenches your thirst is just what the doctor ordered. There is something especially luxurious and relaxing about popping bottles in the sunshine.
“Firstly, they had to be medium bodied, soft and have structure that was not heavily influenced by oak and tannin. So, varieties like grenache, shiraz and pinot in the reds, along with chardonnay and chenin blanc in the whites were ideal.” – Ray Jordan.
Carefully sorting through the entries, our panel have set out to, once again, simplify your wine choices for the already warm Spring season. Purchase the 6 carefully curated winning wines as a pack for an incredible $130 until 3 December, 2023. Only at select Liquor Barons stores.
On The Vine Edition Two $130 Premium Wine Six Pack:
- Nikola Estate | Swan Valley Regional Series Chenin Blanc 2022
The best parcels of chenin on the property are handpicked for this exceptional chenin blanc. The extra time in bottle has allowed the fruit palate to build more flavour with the melon and creamy pear characters starting to open up. Has a subtle vanilla pod on the finish with that lemon butter influence.
- Penfolds | Bin 311 Chardonnay 2022
In line with the Penfolds philosophy, this wine is sourced from a number of regions, including Tasmania, Tumbarumba and the Adelaide Hills. Obviously, they are all cool climate regions, ideally situated towards the light to produce a delicate chardonnay that offers such amazing drinking at this price. It’s crunchy and minerally with an almost crystalline mouth feel. Neat combination of light peach and citrus adding some nice tang.
- Cherubino | Pedestal Margaret River Shiraz 2021
Cherubino sources this wine from several vineyards in Wilyabrup. It demonstrates perfectly why Margaret River shiraz should never be underestimated. It has all of those black cherry and plum characters together with a liberal dose of ground black pepper. Brilliant and bright with a refined elegant palate profile.
- Turkey Flat Vineyards | Barossa Valley Rosé 2022
This is a blend of grenache and mataro from the Barossa Valley. It’s a combination that works so well for either table wine or rosés. In this case the perfumed bouquet of rose petal and strawberry sings from the glass. The palate is light bodied but textural and with a nice savoury edge on the finish. This is quintessentially a modern rosé.
- Howard Park | Swan Valley Grenache 2022
This is one of an increasing number of stunning shiraz emerging from Frankland River and redefining this region for a distinctive style of shiraz. It’s a wild and crazy ride through black fruits, liquorice, dark plum and chocolate with a slightly ferrous ironstone core adding to its complexity. An exciting wine with a great future.
- Hardys | HRB Pinot Noir 2021
This is a tremendous pinot noir that manages the balance between palate power and finesse. The fruit came in from Tasmania and the Yarra, both superb for this variety. The nose is spicy, loaded with ripe berry along with subtle truffle and charcuterie meats. Seamless and vibrant with a sustained finish.
