Giniversity Botanical Gin Subheading
A testament to the diversity of the Margaret River Region, Giniversity Gin has been crafted in the South West of WA since 2016 when master distiller Cameron Syme decided he’d extend his distilling vision beyond the realms of whisky.
From humble beginnings, having grown up on a barley farm in Buntine, in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia, Cam has been making internationally award-winning Limeburners Whisky in Albany for over 14 years through Great Southern Distilling Company – the 2019 Icons of World Whisky Australian Distiller of the Year.
In 2015, Cam fell in love with Margaret River and instantly recognised its potential for crafting the perfect gin. Surrounded by beautiful bushland and native botanicals, it’s easy to see how Cam gets inspired to create recipes like the Botanical, Barrel Aged, Smoked Hemp and London Dry (with native blood root).
Our gin of the month – Giniveristy Botanical – is easily the crowd favourite coming out of Cam’s Margaret River Distilling Company, with 15 botanicals blended to create a uniquely Australian recipe that’s dangerously refreshing.
Inspired by the miraculous combination of both art and science, Giniversity is always seeking to innovate and push the boundaries – always with the goal to produce some of most delicate and unique flavours.
With an abundance of grapes on its doorstep thanks to Margaret River’s wine heritage, Giniversity crafts its gin using a neutral grape-based spirit, giving it a silky-smooth mouthfeel.
What’s It Like/Tasting Notes
Giniversity’s Botanical Gin is made using botanicals that have been carefully chosen to reflect a unique native Australian recipe.
Each botanical has been individually distilled and infused to create a distinctive aromatic style that is well balanced. This gin has a hint of sweetness to it, making it incredibly refreshing when paired with a quality tonic.
Pronounced botanicals include Juniper, Sandalwood, Boronia, Lemon Myrtle and Eucalypt.
Mixology: One part gin to two parts high-quality tonic is recommended. Pour the gin over ice and top with tonic. Garnish with strawberries and rosemary.
