Furphy was born in Geelong at the Little Creatures Brewery there, and brewed exclusively for Geelongians.  Brewed in the style of a Kolsch Ale (think a lower IBU of 22, and a refreshing and crisp palate without overt hop bitterness), Furphy was named Furphy after the Furphy tanks it is brewed in.  (See how many times we can drop ‘Furphy’ into this very true furphy.)  These days Furphy is distributed across the country, allowing its bright approachable style to be enjoyed by everyone.  True furphy.   

The name Furphy (before it meant tall stories), came from the Furphy company that built storage tanks. In fact without the Furphy stainless steel fermentation tanks, Furphy would be nothing.


What’s it like?

 Furphy Refreshing Ale is a clean and crisp, balanced beer with subtle fruit flavours and aromas. There’s a subtle maltiness throughout, which leads to a pleasantly refreshing, dry finish.

This is an approachable Ale, inspired by the German Kolsch style, but could be easily mistaken for a light lager.

It’s brewed with 100% Victorian Hops and Malt including Victoria’s Secret and Topaz hops as well as Vienna and Wheat malt.


Furphy is the 6th biggest brand in Victoria!

Furphy is growing at 300% and despite recent, rapid upgrades at our Geelong Brewery, we still can’t keep up.

The brand has grown from a little Geelong beer to a state-wide Victorian favourite in three years, and the rest of Australia are seeking to stock Furphy.

We will always make millions of litres of Furphy at our Geelong brewery.

It’ll be the exact same beer and recipe, using 100% Victorian Hops and Malt.
