Created in 1987 as a tribute Mr Jack Daniel himself, Gentleman Jack is known as "the smoother side of Jack". Gentleman Jack is charcoal mellowed not once, but twice for ultimate smoothness. Their hand-crafted barrels are matured exclusively on the bottom 2 floors of the warehouses where the climate is less intense for softer, lighter flavour.

At the distillery, there is over 2.2 million (200L) barrels of whiskey maturing at any given point.

If you were to lay these barrels down end-on-end, they would continue for over 3,300 kilometres!

Jasper "Jack" Daniel was indeed a real man and was taught how to make whiskey by a Lutheran Minister called Dan Call. Jack registered the distillery at the age of just 16.

He stood only 5 foot 2 when full grown but became a giant in the whiskey industry. He died in 1911 after complications from kicking his safe in frustration.

Jack Daniel’s Jeff Arnett Named Master Distiller of the Year by Whisky Magazine

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (March 1, 2017)

Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett, the man responsible for overseeing production of the world’s supply of Jack Daniel’s, has been named Master Distiller of the Year at the 2017 Icons of Whisky America Awards presented by Whisky Magazine.

The Icons of Whisky are the annual industry awards organised by Whisky Magazine that recognise the very best people and places in the whiskey business around the world.

The Jack Daniel Distillery, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2016, is located in Lynchburg, Tennessee where every drop of Jack Daniel’s is made. Arnett is only the 7th Master Distiller and has been at the helm since 2008. His supervision of the entire whiskey-making process of milling, yeasting, fermentation, distillation, charcoal mellowing and maturation ensures the world’s top-selling whiskey label is both in constant supply and true to Jack’s guiding belief that “Every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can.”

The Icons of Whisky awards involve regional heats to find the best companies in the leading whisky nations of the world, which then compete against each other for the overall Global Icons of Whisky of the world presented in London each spring.
